Real Nice Thing in Life #9

My blog (and my life) has reached the point of inevitable change. Beautiful Alcibides has decided to quit his duties as the official photographer of The Guayaba Project to explore greener pastures. I'm hoping only for the best for him. He would be greatly missed. I will always love you Alcibiades :)

But don't you worry my dear un-occupied followers, I've gotten myself an adventurous, funny, beautiful, smart new photographer. Her name is CoCo and in case you are wondering, that's not her alias, that's actually her real name. When you are lucky enough to have a stripper's name, the world just bends over backwards for you. Mental note: is it too late to change my name to Candy?

Welcome to The Guayaba Project CoCo. Consider this your playground.

Real Nice Thing in Life #9: To embrace change, even when it hurts and when desperate there's nothing that CoCos, Candies, Emeralds, Trixies or Bubbles won't be able to heal.

Urban Outfitters Shirt. Every thing else is very old and has no labels left. Other than the boots that are Frye and in case you are wondering if they are comfortable, the answer is No. These boots are not made for walking. The domestication process lasts a good five years (like a husband :)).

Hasta la vista Fashion Week!

I am glad Fashion Week is over. As a fashion lover living in New York, this is one of the most exciting events I can attend. But the fashion blogging world with all its social platforms falls into a dark hole of repetitive material that I can't stand. I might fall in this trend as well. When I like something I want to share it on my blog. But having to see the same Marchesa dress on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and what ever other social madness I haven't even heard about is a bit too much for me. Don't get me wrong, I still feel like a 5 year old girl in the Barbie (or even better, LEGO!) section of Toys R' Us every time I sneak into a show, and I'm planning to keep crashing into that party every year, but I've developed a love for street fashion with "real life" common people (read dorky, like me) that fancy shows with all their beauty and glamour haven't been able to match. Cheers to "dorkiness"!

Crashing into shows was great, but I'm glad Alcibiades is back and I'm on the other side of the lens once more. Thank you fashion designers for the sweet little macaroon that is fashion week. Any bigger and it would be sickly sweet.

Balenciaga shoes, Kirna Zabete for Target lips bracelet (I secretly practice tongue kissing with it, no I don't...OK, maybe). Urban Outfitters high waisted jeans, perfect for hiding that bloated belly it's impossible to get rid of, and Tony the tiger cut-out t-shirt.

As some of you might be aware, Alcibiades is my personal photographer, fashion guru, financial advisor, trainer, and even my travel companion. I feel at ease when I'm posing for him, and for the most part I think he enjoys working with me. These stupid faces I make every time he points his camera at me can only mean one thing......am I starting to fall in love with Alcibiades?

Back to the Roof

Alcibiades and I are back to our favorite shooting location: the rooftop. Yes, exploring other locations is fun and shit, but nothing beats the comfort of your home. Is like going to a crowed park in the middle of summer when the temperature is a scorching 90+ degrees to watch your favorite music group versus watching it from your air conditioned living room. Park is fun, but living room is perfection....OK, I'm just being dramatic here, but you get the idea.

I decided to act like a "grown up" and got myself a pair of serious black pumps. Not only they are pretty comfy, but the strap around them makes me feet feel like Anastasia being hugged by Christian Grey. (I'm already in book #2, did anyone finish them all? does he keep beating the hell out of her?)

This seriousness only lasted 10 minutes until I wore my DrMartens.....

So the question is? Who wore it best? DrMartens or Balenciaga? Tell me, I already have my favorite.

Zara Jeans, Balenciaga Shoes, Urban Outfitters Shirt (as seen here), DrMartens boots.
All pictures by Alcibiades.

'Cause I'm a Gypsy are you coming with me....

Yes I stole this line from Shakira (I love you girl), but I couldn't help it after seeing these pictures. I bought this shirt while on a trip to Houston, TX. I was with my family in Urban Outfitters helping my 14 year old niece pick out some clothing (good luck with that) and I fell in love with this shirt. I also got the turban the same day. I've always had a fascination with gypsies. I remember only dressing as a gypsy for halloween when I was a little girl. And now that I'm a grown up (or at least I stop growing vertically to only grow horizontally) I still have the inclination to wear a turban every so often, a long skirt, to tell some one's luck, not to settle anywhere for a long period of time or to steal your clothes if they happen to fit me.
JCrew jeans, Urban Outfitters shirt, Vince Camuto shoes , Attitude Gloria's and only Gloria's, Music (whaat? yes, how the heck do you think I manage to do all this funny posses?) Omega, Photographer insists that she/ he wants to remain incognito.
Dear cat, thanks for being next to me for the past 10 years. You know I've been your most loyal servant, so please don't escape so that we can love each other for many more years.
