Family Portrait

Among feeding the cats, watering the plants, pseudo-meditating (try to meditate with two cats wondering "how come you are not moving" ) and drinking freshly made banana smoothie, I dedicate a good chunk of my morning routine to spy on other people's lives via Facebook and Instagram.  I've been feeling slightly tormented (not really) lately with the realization that my life is not -for lack of a better word- normal.

According to the "master plan" (a plan created by who knows who where we all have to act properly and be nice and have many kids and over populate the world and have a nice house with a labrador and a white picket fence) and Facebook I've reached the age where I'm supposed to be raising a family of three while having a full time job, keeping a beautiful figure and mastering exceptional cooking skills.....sure! Somehow my master plan probably got lost in translation and instead of raising human babies I'm sharing my life with two hairy beasts of the feline type, my figure is somehow acceptable and my cooking skills are limited to cereal with milk and grilled cheese sandwiches. I am a disgrace to the master plan.

So what shall a girl like me -with a not so ordinary life- do when panic strikes (nah!) and the unavoidable thought of failure to society dominates one's head? Call CoCo of course for a family portrait session with my adopted four legged offsprings! (My loser level just went up a notch).

Happy Tuesday everyone, I wish you all lots of love and blessings!

On Chastity Belts

Harness Belt should be a more exact term for the weird appurtenance that lays so peacefully over my body. Harness Belts are not designed to prevent sexual intercourse however, your mating possibilities might decrease exponentially with the continued use of the fashionable, anti-sexy, and beautiful version of a posture corrector brace collar, so I might as well call this wonderful device a Chastity Belt since the outcome will be the same: you will not get laid.

-"What are you wearing tonight?"
-"You know, my chastity belt with my vintage dress and a pair of Miu Miu's"
-"Cool, enjoy"

In all seriousness...isn't this belt the coolest thing ever? Yes? No? Maybe? Am I weird? :)

Vintage dress rescued from a certain trip to my aunt's closets in Colombia. Remember this?
Miu Miu shoes, BCBG Chastity Belt :)
All pictures by someone who prefers to remain anonymous ;) CoCo should be back soon.

*Have you ever google'd chastity belts?
this has got to be a joke!

Real Nice Thing in Life #7

And the countdown continues....
I came across the most beautiful song while exploring different "stations" on my Pandora. It's called Thanks for the Memory. This particular version was sang by Frank Sinatra. It reminded me of the all the beautiful people that have touched my life one way or the other and that no longer are next to me.
Merci Beaucoup!

So, thanks for the memory
And strictly entre-nous, darling how are you?
And how are all the little dreams that never did come true?
Aw'flly glad I met you, cheerio and toddle-oo

Real Nice Thing in Life #7: The beautiful moments that will live in my brain forever.

And in other news from the world of Stupidity here's what I wore the day after a major storm while drinking wine with CoCo and beautiful MaFer. Talking about great memories.....

And thanks for the memory
of sunburns at the shore, nights in Singapore
You might have been a headache but you never were a bore (oh yeah!)
So thank you so much

Good Vibrations

I'm a strong believer in the energy that people and living creatures project. I consider myself as a carrier of "good" energy, and my conclusion is purely based on the fact that most of the dogs and cats (and a couple of horses and now that I think about it even my neighbor's hamsters) I've met during the course of my life want to frolic with me. Maybe is not good energy, maybe I taste like bacon.

In any case, I'm one of those freaks of nature that believes that ones energy is transmitted to ones clothing and personal items (now is your chance to run away and delete me from your contacts. Are you are still there? OK, hang on a second, this gets better). So even thought I'm a fashion lover, I have refrained myself for many years from visiting vintage stores for the pure fear of weird energies....... (please somebody tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this way, please!) But since we are creatures in constant evolution, I have adventured myself into the wonderful world of vintage shopping, and what better place to do it that in the heart of NYC. No, I didn't freak out. I didn't feel my late grandma's energy floating around and I didn't smell anybody's armpit scent. What I did find was a wonderful place full of wonderful clothing, great people, more colors than Nicki Minaj's hair, and great energy!!

Adios amigos!

BCBG booties
Beautiful male specimen, found on the new arrivals section.
Alexander Wang dress: wait for me, we'll be together someday.

Alexander McQueen Boots, BCBG Runway dress

Zac Posen blouse. I happen to be very lucky and score this beauty for almost nothing. She lives in my closet now and we are very much in love (the blouse is entirely transparent, and since I live in a society where showing a nipple is one of the biggest sins one can commit, I decided to put little flowers on top of my mammary glands, use your imagination please).

Gucci vintage shoes, and vintage dress that I left crying back in the racks :(

Special thanks to Kathy for being my photographer and my friend. Alcibiades has been having a hectic schedule and is taking some days off, but he'll be back soon ;). Thanks to Wilson from Second Time Around for being a sunshine and allowing us to play dress up for hours in his store. Love you all!

Round and Round....

You can pretty much kick my ass next time you see me for milking this outfit for more than one post. What can I tell you? I've been out surveying train stations (because I'm an architect damn it :)) and the chances of posting something halfway interesting are very slim when you have to travel to Middleofnowhere, IL. But with free time and with no better half to snug, hug under the blankets, and argue about stupid things I'm pretty much left with no other choice than to start exploring the wonderful world of animated images. Are you dizzy yet? I am.

Crossfit on Steroids

I've always love to exercise. I remember spending my childhood days taking karate, hockey, swimming, gymnastics, and soccer lessons. I never performed great at any of these sports, and I'm pretty sure I was the kid that no one wanted in their team, but this never stopped me from having a great time and participating.
Now that I'm kinda of a grown up, I've opted for less intense activities like yoga and Pilates. Relaxing? yes, good for your body and soul? sure, exciting? not so much. I was in desperate need of a slightly more intense activity. My search was over when I discovered Crossfit, an strength and conditioning program that is as intense as you can imagine. I'm loving it, I'm so glad it came into my life, and I hope to keep practicing it for many more years. So in honor to my new crazyness, I give you Crossfit on steroids.

French Connection shirt, Zara shorts, JCrew socks, BCBG shoes, vintage sleeveless sweater.
Special thanks to my coaches for yelling at me so many times "Gloriaaaaaaa get violent and aggressive!", as you can see, you've turned me into a bad-ass ninja.

Doggie Dog World

Who wants a dog eats dog world when you can have a doggie dog world? A world full of puppies! (concept stolen from my fellow Colombian Sofia Vergara in Modern family). And why torture your cats bringing a dog into your place when you can borrow your neighbor's horse dog for a photo shoot?

I have to give special thanks to my photographer who still wants to remain incognito. I've given him/ her the artistic name of Alcibiades. So thank you Alcibiades for being so patient and putting up with all of my crazy ideas. Alcibiades also does first communions and weddings.

ZARA skirt, Miu Miu shoes, BCBG peplum belt, JCrew shirt.
