Real Nice Thing in Life #19
Natalia Swarz once said in one of her drawings: “yo solo me
quiero morir con muchos sellos en el pasaporte” (I only want to die with lots
of stamps in my passport), and I agree. Exploring new places, meeting people and
getting lost in a new city after a bottle of red wine have made for some of the most
rewarding experiences I've had. Nothing beats seeing the world and the nice
things God (universal good vibe man with white beard and contagious laughter)
has created for us. But as much as I would like my life to be a little bit more
nomadic, the shy part of me still enjoys the safety and warmth the space that I call home provides. There’s no pillow in the world like my 15-year-old-happy-dreams pile of ambiguously-soft-material headrest. No luxury
hotel would ever be able to provide me with a more efficient wake-up call than
the demanding meow of my 13-lb cat. And just tell me what can beat stepping on
a freshly-vomited cat hairball when you wake–up in the middle of the night to
pee!
Real Nice Thing in Life #19: Home sweet home. Green with
envy if yours happens to be in the middle of NYC's Chelsea neighborhood
and you've added baby blue architectural details.

Pink about it!
I've always love the color pink. I was one of those girls with many barbie dolls that had pink corvettes, pink ponies and pink houses. My mom sewed my barbie dolls couture dresses and most of them were pink. I grew up and my teenage years were more punk than girly, but I was never able to stay away from pink. I had 2 pairs of Doc Martens boots, black and pink. I have to admit that I've never loved a pair of shoes so much as my Doc Martens boots (sorry MiuMiu's). So as an ode to pink, I offer to you my selection of the week:
Casa Barragan, simple, clean, and beautiful.

The grass is indeed greener in Cartagena
While browsing through the pages of a Veranda magazine, I found these great pictures of a "casa grande" in Cartagena, Colombia. I just love the way the architect (Alberto Burckhardt) managed to preserve the historic structure of a 250 years old house while still creating a modern & minimalistic retreat.
Mental note: add Cartagena to the places I would like to visit this year list.
Editor's note: I love hammocks, they are beautiful & simple. Yes my back hurts if I use them for long, but don't we all deserve a bright soft hammock? Damn office chairs, damn you to hell!
Hey you! living in the North Hemisphere (more specifically in the North East area of the US), did you find yourself crying after seeing these pictures? I want you to know that you are not alone, I feel your pain, specially today when the wind had no mercy and froze us to death.
Oh Cartagena, why are you doing this to us?
...the grass is definitely greener on the other side.
