Hasta la vista Fashion Week!

I am glad Fashion Week is over. As a fashion lover living in New York, this is one of the most exciting events I can attend. But the fashion blogging world with all its social platforms falls into a dark hole of repetitive material that I can't stand. I might fall in this trend as well. When I like something I want to share it on my blog. But having to see the same Marchesa dress on Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, and what ever other social madness I haven't even heard about is a bit too much for me. Don't get me wrong, I still feel like a 5 year old girl in the Barbie (or even better, LEGO!) section of Toys R' Us every time I sneak into a show, and I'm planning to keep crashing into that party every year, but I've developed a love for street fashion with "real life" common people (read dorky, like me) that fancy shows with all their beauty and glamour haven't been able to match. Cheers to "dorkiness"!

Crashing into shows was great, but I'm glad Alcibiades is back and I'm on the other side of the lens once more. Thank you fashion designers for the sweet little macaroon that is fashion week. Any bigger and it would be sickly sweet.

Balenciaga shoes, Kirna Zabete for Target lips bracelet (I secretly practice tongue kissing with it, no I don't...OK, maybe). Urban Outfitters high waisted jeans, perfect for hiding that bloated belly it's impossible to get rid of, and Tony the tiger cut-out t-shirt.

As some of you might be aware, Alcibiades is my personal photographer, fashion guru, financial advisor, trainer, and even my travel companion. I feel at ease when I'm posing for him, and for the most part I think he enjoys working with me. These stupid faces I make every time he points his camera at me can only mean one thing......am I starting to fall in love with Alcibiades?

The Olympics.....not really

A very dear friend of mine (whom I call DoDo) texted me a picture of herself wearing a bathing suit. Of course she looked adorable. I find all my dearest friends to be the prettiest girls on earth. She wanted me to give her an honest opinion of how her body looks five months after giving birth to her beautiful baby. It got me thinking about how much our bodies change during the course of our lives. Gravity takes over your boobs, stomach, and butt no matter how much exercise you try to squeeze into your daily routine. Those donuts that you used to burn so fast in your twenties are now noticeable within minutes of eating them and suddenly the thought of cosmetic surgery crosses your mind more regularly than before.

But don't worry my dear warriors, I've come up with a solution to our bathing suit problems (at least the taking a picture in your bathing suit one). I've called it: the instant boob, stomach and butt lift. It's very simple, all you have to do is a hand stand (exhibit A) and then rotate your picture (exhibit B) and tadah! suddenly your boobs are at a decent height again. Ignore my "Olympic style tape" on my right knee. Along with the perks of reaching a certain age comes the torn ligament and the misplaced patella. It comes with the deluxe package.

For the more adventurous of you I recommend the "running pose".
It doesn't hurt to have a bathing suit with a strategically placed ornament to cover that fluffy belly that not even 500 sit-ups will flatten.

If you cannot do the head stand don't worry! I also created the "laying on the floor" pose. This pose will spread your belly and boobs all over the floor giving you a "flat" stomach.
If you are brave enough just go ahead and stand up. Suck your belly in and do the "I'm looking at the empty floor and trying to look interesting look" (how many times can one say look in one sentence?) (Do you notice how the buttons that are holding the ornamental piece are at their maximum stress level?)

And with pictures of me wearing a bathing suit I say Good Night to you all. Dear DoDo and the rest of you with bathing suit issues, you are the prettiest! We are all unique in our own skin and that's the beauty of the human race. Love you all :)

Back to the Roof

Alcibiades and I are back to our favorite shooting location: the rooftop. Yes, exploring other locations is fun and shit, but nothing beats the comfort of your home. Is like going to a crowed park in the middle of summer when the temperature is a scorching 90+ degrees to watch your favorite music group versus watching it from your air conditioned living room. Park is fun, but living room is perfection....OK, I'm just being dramatic here, but you get the idea.

I decided to act like a "grown up" and got myself a pair of serious black pumps. Not only they are pretty comfy, but the strap around them makes me feet feel like Anastasia being hugged by Christian Grey. (I'm already in book #2, did anyone finish them all? does he keep beating the hell out of her?)

This seriousness only lasted 10 minutes until I wore my DrMartens.....

So the question is? Who wore it best? DrMartens or Balenciaga? Tell me, I already have my favorite.

DIY of the Month

I think we can confidently say that summer is here. I talk a lot about the weather, but please understand me, I live in the New York area, and the weather here is a main topic of conversation. In celebration of the new season I've decided to work on several Do It Yourselves projects (I still owe you a DIY pant a la Isabel Marant as certain Instagram Picture suggested it, I just need to smitten Alcibiades (my photographer) into a photoshoot), after all I'm an architect damn it, and I was trained to explore my right creative side of the brain (or the left?). Therefore, just so my mom doesn't think she threw her money down the drain with my education,  I want to share with you one of my favorite DIY of all times; I will call it: what to do with your friend's backyard when you've pretty much done it all DIY (we've done the inflatable pool, the take a picture with baby bear now that momma bear is not looking, the let's go deep into the woods, the let's see the sun rise even when we are dying to go to bed, etc). I'm giving you exact instructions, but if you are lost at any time, please don't hesitate to call me.

Adios my lovers, I hope you are still tuned. Besos!

Green Bathing Suit that is not really a bathing suit but I think it looks wonderful in a pool or any "wet" environment, American Apparel. Bathing Suit worn underneath  The Green bathing Suit also American Apparel. Friends brought to you by years of cultivating wonderful relationships. All pictures by Alcibiades. Thank you Alcibiades, without you, this blog would be a series of self taken boring mirror  pictures. I love you.

Waking Up

Monday. Sleepy. Lack of words. Addicted to Hoarders. Scared. Compulsive cleaning. Rediscovered my Rodarte for Target dress. In love. Happy again. Promise to be more eloquent soon.

This dress serves as a mosquito net. Taking it with me on my next trip to Colombia.

Enchanted Island

I don't remember how many times I've traveled to Puerto Rico. Is one of those places along with Paris and Tulum that have a very special meaning for me. Maybe because it reminds me of Colombia but most certainly because of the beauty of its people. Since the very first time I visited the enchanted island with my brother more than 13 years ago, I felt as if I belong there. Hey you Boricuas out there! thank you for all of these years of great memories.

So, in celebration of me getting 20 followers* on blogger!! :) (this well earned event deserves not only double exclamation marks but bold letters and smiley faces) I'm sharing with you my pictures from my trip number "I lost count already" to Puerto Rico. As you can see, Alcibiades makes overseas trips too (is Puerto Rico considered overseas? I guess so right? you are going over a sea to get there...yeap).

* I need to air out some feelings I have about followers. When I started this fun activity called "blogging" I thought it could be a nice way of sharing my life with family and friends. And then something super cool happened, people that I've never met before started emailing me and saying really nice things about my posts, and not only that, but they started following me. Thank you so much, this means a lot to me, I will try my best not to let you down.

I hope you are still awake and reading this, or at least scrolling down fast to take a look at the pictures, I promise these are kinda fun. I'm wearing a bathing suit and my skin is the same color as the sand. I had to wear red lipstick for safety reasons so people and birds could see and wouldn't run me over.

Luv you all,

Guayaba daba doo :)

Doggie in Old San Juan
Spying on another hottie. No one is safe around me. Be aware, be very aware!
Let's take a poll.....how do you call these flowers? In Colombia they are called veraneras and they come in many colors. My mom has the pink variety. Aren't they just perfect?

Pigeons of Old San Juan......

Namaste.
Enjoy your week. Love, laugh, exercise, and read more, watch less TV and don't forget to call your mom more often (sorry mom, I'll call tomorrow, promise!)

Lettuce...lechuga en Español

Hello my darlings,
My muscles hurt today, yes, the same muscles that have been holding me for the past 31, 33, 35 30 years are aching like crazy. I've been doing cross-fit 3-5 times a week and I'm so sore....I can feel pain traveling from my toes (I hurt my big right toe 9 years ago playing soccer and I still can feel the pain) all the way up to my upper back. I'm enjoying it though, badly.....
Anyway, Alcibiades (my personal photographer) is always willing to put up with my madness and despite my soreness and me not wanting to move a muscle, he/ she inspires me to always smile and dress like I'm going out, even if I only need to go  to the supermarket. I'm one of those girls that dresses up to get milk and eggs, otherwise, when do I get to wear my clothes?
So with soreness I leave you with lettuce...lechuga en español,

mmmm, the sweet scent of my arm pits :)
